When deciding to follow ones Muse, an "author" has to decide what it is he wants to say, about what subject and in which form.. humor, novel. non-fiction, self-help, or poetry. One of my favorite subjects is common sense, and in particular common sense about how we conduct our lives... and manage our health, or lack thereof. Everything has an opportunity for metaphor. Will your car last very long if you load up the trunk with concrete blocks, put six big people in it and drive on a bumpy road? I think not. How about feeding it kerosene instead of high-test gasoline? Leaving it in the garage for months at a time without taking it for a run to clear out the carbon and cobwebs? There...a metaphor for our health. And common sense at the same time. Not too funny, but I will try harder next time. But then again, maybe our health and what we can do about it is NO LAUGHING MATTER. On the other hand...Oscar Wilde wrote "Life is too important to be taken seriously."
