PARKING SPACE BINGO

There are cars and trucks of all sizes here on the island but the parking spaces only come in two sizes, small and smaller. Hence, these two cars are popular here. Their differences are legion. The JEEP is rough, tough, crude, bouncy and drafty. It also goes anywhere and would NEVER get it's front bumper ripped off when you pull into a curb too far or have to pull up on a curb to let another car pass on an extremely narrow street (typical). The MINI has the same interior room as the Jeep, is quiet, water tight, and 100% BMW. You have to be careful where you tread because there are potholes that could swallow you up, the dirt roads near the beaches can have "lakes" in them, and some of the curbs are the height of your front grill. BOTh these vehicles are about the same length so there are many more parking spaces that become available to you.

In a perfect world, I would make this post and friends and followers would comment and tell me why they prefer one of these cars over the other.

  1. Both cars are popular in New Canaan as well (though we do have parking for larger cars and I puked when a local Chevrolet dealer opened up a HUMMER showroom a few years ago - But I digress)

I prefer the Jeep as it would allow access to both the town and the beach. Additionally, the jeep is more fun to drive and perhaps less expensive to maintain.

  2. THANK YOU, oh loyal follower. I think the JEEP makes less sense as a daily driver and therefore is the one I will get. There is something primitive about it with the stamped sheet metal and the plastic fenders, and all that machinery underneath. I doubt it will go any farther off road in Florida than an unpaved parking lot, but it might make me feel more rugged too especially when I mount a 50 cal on it like the Rat Patrol and spray paint it with a few cans of Olive Drab Krylon from Pep Boys. Whoops, there goes the resale value.
