SHUTTER ISLAND

As far as I am concerned, a more fitting title would have exchanged the U for an I. The movie poster plot: Drama set in 1954, U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels is investigating the disappearance of a murderess who escaped from a hospital for the criminally insane and is presumed to be hiding on the remote Shutter Island. The real plot: WTF? I think Leonardo must be going through some major psychotherapy and his analyst has given him homework assignments..."go out and star in some movies where nobody in the theater knows what's going on and half of them don't care." This is the second DeCaprio movie in as many weeks where I wished I had watched "The Cat from Outer Space" instead. The previous one was "Inception" which was far worse and we walked out of it. We saw Sh*tter Island in our living room so there was nowhere to go. There was NO suspense, the location was dismal, and the scary parts weren't scary. If you look at it on another level, the back and forth psychodrama, it was thin. I won't spoil it for you in case you want to watch it (why?) but it is about things that did happen or didn't happen, are real or aren't real... it was almost like watching an Obama speech.
