I am FONDA This Movie

On Golden Pond from 1981 was a great movie. I had forgotten how great until I started to watch it on TV (recorded) this week. Henry Fonda's portrayal of a curmudgeonly 80 year old man is epic. The scenery and the interior of their home on Golden Pond reminds me a lot of Nantucket. The Old wooden Chris Craft boats are not a feature around here as much as they are in Sarasota but if I see one I will photograph it.

In case you don't remember, it is about the return of the daughter (Jane Fonda) to visit her parents. She blames all her problems on how she was brought up... by a domineering father and an uncaring mother. As you watch the movie and see the two older people interact with one another, their daughter, her boyfriend and his son, you understand the true nature of everyone and how our perceptions are caricatures of reality embellished over time. Don't let your visceral dislike of Hanoi Jane keep you from this movie any more than your distaste for Alec Baldwin and his politics would keep you from watching one of the great TV shows... 30 Rock.
