The LINCOLN Lawyer

Last night, at the North Beach Mansion, the Kitty and I watched this movie on Comcast (Xfinity) On Demand. Almost every McConaughey movie is the same, which is not a bad thing. He has a quirky and arrogant way about him in film and this role suited him well. Stereotypically, he was a clever and unscrupulous criminal defense attorney whose ex-wife was a prosecutor in the same court system. They share custody of a cute little daughter.

He is called the Lincoln Lawyer because he is chauffeured around and meets some his less savory clients from the back of a Lincoln Limousine. The movie has rich people who think they can buy their way out of anything, bikers, hookers, and other lawyers who, typical of district attorney's offices everywhere are no match for the expensive private shyster. But there is much more to this movie than this seen-before formula. You will enjoy it and get your $5.95 worth. With Comcast, you get 2 days to watch a movie and can stop it at any time. We watched it 'til the end...coincidentally just about the time Jay Leno started. Out of 5 stars, I give The Lincoln Lawyer a smidgen under 4. William H. Macy and Marisa Tomei play their supporting roles well.
