You must be PAZZO

Last year, not far from the Stop and Shop there was a restaurant called Sfoglia. It specialized in Italian food. We had a good meal or two there but they went out of business and a new restaurant occupies the same building. There was a major interior renovation. The new restaurant is called PAZZO which means "crazy" in Italian. We ate there last night. The bar was jumpin' the bartenders were very friendly, and as we had to wait a bit for our table, the host and hostess were very solicitous. The beautifully decorated dining room and tables were a welcome touch. Our waiter, Greg, was a complete gentleman, and very on-top-of his game. Even though we came from a wine tasting before dinner and had drinks at the bar, they still were pumping more drinks (the biggest profit center of this restaurant I would suppose) but we resisted and had water. The server keep our glasses full all night. The bathroom was very nice.

The food was good but not very Italian. In all fairness, the manager told me that they are a FUSION restaurant and the style of the food matched their mission. If you are looking for a classic Northern or Southern Italian trattoria, this ain't it. If you want a New York style higher end, with prices to match, classy place with great service, good bread, a happenin' bar, I would recommend PAZZO. If you crave robust red sauce and barrels of pasta you are on the wrong island. I gently complained that the meal lacked spiciness and the waiter and manager immediately comped us a delicious dessert. These folks have a good sense of what makes a great restaurant. Service comes first. We left happy, and plan to return.
