NATURE or NURTURE

PITTOSPORUM BUSHES SIDE BY SIDE IN SARASOTA. One gets some water and the other does not. They were planted at the same time in the same soil. Add a raindrop or two and the green one will come back. The other one is finished.

Is this a metaphor for society? Two children born the same, in the same neighborhood, and yet one flourishes and the other withers? Catch them early and both will grow green and strong. If you try to save them at some later date, you are just wasting water on the withered one. The other one will come back even though it has had to endure some drought. Or is it just a dead plant next to a live one?
