And then a ROSE appeared

Walking down Easy Street on my way to visit my friends at the Wharf Rat Club yesterday, my route was along the waterfront. There on the steel cap of the sea wall between the brick pavers and the water lay a single rose.

Roses have a particular significance in the lives of my wife and daughter. Every time they are in the midst of a crisis, they invoke St. Teresa of Lisseau, the "Little Flower." Then, out of the blue (or the red as the case may be) a rose will appear, on the ground next to the car they are about to enter, on a sea wall like this one, or just about anywhere. I am not talking about a rose in the middle of your table in a Restaurant or at a Florist, I am talking about a single rose on the 50 yard line of a football field with no other flowers anywhere in sight. It's that "out of place." And along with the rose, there is more often than not, resolution of the crisis.

In a world of high technology and instant news, it is nice to be reminded of the simple but "couldn't be more perfect" beauty of nature... in the form of a ROSE.

  1. That's very nice, and reminds us that more often than not, we can resolve our own crises.
