JEEPERS CREEPERS

Everywhere on Nantucket, the JEEP Universal/Wrangler utility vehicle in some iteration or another is ubiquitous. Surprisingly, on an island with a maximum speed limit of 40mph, classic cars are the hot ticket. There are old Land Rovers, and Land Cruisers, military vehicles from WW2, and early model JEEPS. Some of them are real clunkers, and meant to be that way...as in "we are from New England and scuffed up boat shoes, frayed collars on our polo shirts and a rusted through JEEP are part of the "uniform." There are others that are in pristine condition and better than new.

Notice along the old style plain steel bumper, the status symbol of the beach and sand permit stickers. Every year the color is different. There is a right way to display them and this is it. Alternatively, if you plan to have many more of them (keep your car forever) you can overlap them,

Anyhow, the Oracle almost bought a Wrangler back in Florida about 1 month ago. It was 15 years old and in near-perfect condition for a 5 speed 4 cylinder model. I was dissuaded from buying it by its anemic engine. It was real close, however, the price was right, the owner had automotive OCD, and It was what it was. Sometime within this year, you will be introduced to the Oraclemobile, once she is in the stable. In the meantime, the GLK350 is bouncing along just fine.
