STAY in the STREAM

A good and sagacious friend of mine, who happens to be a Psychiatrist, has told me more than once..."Stay in the stream." By that he means that going too far outside your boundaries (and everyone has them) is not in your best interest. That is not to say that you cannot be far to one side and not just floating down the middle but "Stay IN the stream."

Going too far from all that you have become as a result of a long life, social conditioning, education, relationships, is a stretch not only outside the comfort zone, it is like running a Pig at Santa Anita.
As for that "comfort zone" what in life that is worth achieving is without discomfort, "no pain no gain" or discipline to do what you have to do not just the easy thing. Just look at fitness and health> Is it easier to just eat any and everything and sit on the sofa than to say "no thank you" to the Apple Pie a la Mode and go to the gym every day? Point made.

That is different than going through life in a stream, albeit wider than this one, wandering from shore to shore. Or is ANY self-imposed limitation a ceiling that keeps you from "being all you can be?" As I look forward to the next (hopefully) 20 years, I wonder whether making the break today, saying WTF to convention and the stream, and climbing out on shore, up a tree, over a cliff, and through the woods is a better choice. Tune in tomorrow.
