The HOME of CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE

Considering that Massachusetts is the home of John Kerry, Ted Kennedy (and the rest of the Kennedy clan) and has "liberal weenie" as their state motto, there is a lot of Civil Disobedience up here. The original TEA party was in Boston Harbor, The shot heard round the world was in Concord, and Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson are from these parts as well.

Bumper stickers abound that express some of this. "Question Authority", etc is seen all the time and not just on the cars of Surf Dudes. There is an undercurrent of distrust of Government, of the status quo, and of following too many damn rules. Yet Massachusetts is in the vanguard of liberal "change" aka "big government is Better government". They surprised the Hell out of everybody when they elected a Republican senator, Scott Brown, last year. They had a Libertarian Governor, William Weld, a couple of decades ago. He had ideas that were similar to those of Ron Paul.

So where do you stand on this? Go with the flow? Support any and every war the government gets us into? Pay your taxes on top of taxes? Or do you believe that staying silent is tantamount to saying "If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem?" Is this apparent shift in America to Governors like Chris Christie, Rick Scott, and Scott Walker a sign of anything in particular? Or will these contrarians just be a flash in the pan, soon to be replaced by Republican and Democrat tax and spend liberals? Hold on to your wallets.
