ON BEING JUDGEMENTAL

Most of us judge others to one degree or another, no matter how "live and let live" we think we are. Rather than celebrate our differences and enjoy the contrast, more often than not, we see something that does not match our expectations and not only judge that is it unlike "our way" but is patently WRONG. The radio is too loud, "what's with that tattoo?" "Does her mother know what she is wearing?" that music is awful, and my favorite..."he should have spent the money on tuition instead."

How many times do you see a young person driving a car with expensive oversized "wagon" wheels "23 Jordans" on their $200 dollar car and wonder why the spent their money so foolishly. Or some girl going out of her way to look like Snookie, the 21st century fashion icon from Jersey Shore, the TV program.

I enjoy going to malls, not to shop but to look at the people. All over Florida, I see blue-haired ladies wearing bright colored polyester and way too much perfume, and their husbands standing outside Lane Bryant holding the "purse" while she shops. He is wearing polyester too, and his pants are pulled up somewhere around his arm pits. He has orthopedic elk shoes with velcro closures, a white belt, and a porkpie hat. He is wearing the same eyeglasses that Buddy Holly wore in 1960. Yet they both stand in judgement of what everyone else is wearing. "Can you imagine?"
