APPETIZERing

Meat pies on roasted biscuit bread. Pine nuts add an extra "kick" of flavor. A little dab of plain yogurt on top and you may not need anything else for dinner. These are a traditional mediterranean dish that has a different name in each country. Kitty served this as an appetizer before the stuffed peppers for dinner tonight.

  1. Thank you, Katrina, for your medical input. I was thinking the same thing until I tasted them. They are a thing of internal beauty. In fact, I just had one as a snack while waiting to go out for dinner. Their lack of color is quite environmentally appropriate here in Nantucket where everything by law has to be earth toned. (except if you buy it in Lilly or Lauren) I would mail you one to taste but I fear that it would be eaten by a postal employee before it arrived. They are that good.

  2. Ooh, my all-time favorite apps a la Kitty. They also travel and freeze well, just can't be beat. A dab of labneh or Greek yogurt and I am in heaven. Makes me reminisce of our first Aspen adventure back in the summer of '06.

  3. The makings of Zatar are in the fridge. There will be some middle eastern fare on the table at Casa la Gata this week. Tomorrow I think Italian will be front and center. Speecy spicy meatballs with any degree of luck.
